1) What is your purpose? (25 words or less.) If you had to describe your calling in life, what would you say? What are you here to do? What gift is yours to give to the world?

I believe my purpose is simply to love and be loved. I truly believe that when one loves fully and unconditionally towards others, one is able to reach their fullest potential. For me, I believe the ultimate example is the relationship between God and His Son. God gave His Son to die for my and our sins. And Jesus loves us and His Father so much to give of Himself so willingly. This is true love. I believe when I love so completely, there is trust. And when you have trust, you have faith. So to me, to love is to have faith in God, oneself, and others. When we have faith, we have hope. In such a confusing world, I think we forget to just love. Instead, we create complexities from our fears. I’ve realized when I let go of these burdens and focus on love, my life is peaceful and so much simpler. Much joy and peace is obtained when one lets go of their trouble and just loves.

2) What do you love, and how do (or will) your actions demonstrate this? (250 words or less.) We at Gaia believe that following your heart is the best way to help the whole planet. What do you care about, and what do you most enjoy doing?

I love my faith, specifically my faith in God. I’m always learning and growing in my relationship with Him. My faith is my center and my priority. For me, I feel compelled to help and serve others, just as God has and is continuing to do in our lives. I’ve realized, through my faith, that my passion is helping to restore others. Because of my relationship with Christ, I hope to show love to others and demonstrate God’s love for them as well. I enjoy encouraging those who are hurting and getting to know them beyond the surface. I want to understand people and care as deeply as Christ does. When people are hurting, I want to support and listen to them. I want to offer a safe place to openly share their hearts. I want to bring them comfort and healing. I may not be perfect, but I know Who is. I may not have all the answers, but I know Who does. I strive to be an example of God’s love. I strongly believe that when I help others, even in what seems like the smallest of actions (such as a smile or kind word), I can make a difference in someone’s life and demonstrate God’s amazing love.

Another way to demonstrate my faith is to try to consistently be a light in my speech, but what is more important, in my actions. While I believe that words are important, I believe words are sometimes empty. I feel that daily actions are more effective. There is a saying that says, “Do as I do, not as I say.” Words can boast and fail, but actions are remembered when determining a person’s true self and motives.

3) Write your ideal job description. (250 words or less.) Forget about job titles like 'doctor' or 'artist' or 'lawyer.' If you could get paid just to live, how would you spend your time? What would you devote your life to? What would your days be like?

My ideal job description would be to counsel others. To listen and guide others when they are hurting or heavy hearted. I enjoy and would enjoy just listening and sharing thoughts and ideas with an individual. Sometimes, some individuals have gone through a situation I may have not come across in my life experiences. However, I find I have a deep compassion and I am able to relate to the individual because I have felt the same feelings they are going through (such as sadness, fear, anger, happiness, etc). These common feelings bring us together, but our differences and ideas allow for both of to learn from the other person. Currently, I am going to school to pursue a career in counseling. Without any hesitation, I would continue my education to gain further knowledge and understanding of the human mind and heart, so that I may better serve others while counseling. My ideal job would also involve traveling to view the wonders of nature, especially the ocean. I would enjoy nature and take time to truly marvel God’s creation. To travel to peaceful areas to quiet my mind, body, and soul from the busyness found in daily life. In my travels, I think would also like to enjoy the beauties of the art and music surrounding me. From paintings to buildings, cultural music to the musical sound of a rainstorm, I would want to be apart of the audience. These travels, along with taking in the sights and sounds around me, would spark much inspiration. My job description would also involve taking this inspiration to turn to my own creative outlets, like writing, to help others. My ideal job is not driven for riches or fame, but to leave a legacy. I would rather be significant than be successful. To impact another’s life in a positive way and make a different in at least one person’s life, would be the most rewarding job for me.

10 Guidelines From God

Posted on Dec 28th, 2008 by glory

This is something I stumbled across a couple years ago and is still a favorite of mine to this day. Such a refreshing reminder when things get stressful! :)

10 Guidelines from God

Effective immediately, please be aware that there are changes YOU need to make in YOUR life. These changes need to be completed in order that I may fulfill My promises to you to grant you peace, joy, and happiness in this life. I apologize for any inconvenience, but after all that I am doing, this seems very little to ask of you. Please, follow these 10 guidelines:

1. QUIT WORRYING:

Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit and worry. Have you forgotten that I am here to take all your burdens and carry them for you? Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little thing that comes your way?

2. PUT IT ON THE LIST:

Something needs done or taken care of. Put it on the list. No not YOUR list. Put it on MY to-do-list. Let ME be the one to take care of the problem. I can't help you until you turn it over to Me. And although My to-do-list is long, I am after all... God. I can take care of anything you put into My hands. In fact, if the truth were ever really known, I take care of a lot of things for you that you never even realize.

3. TRUST ME:

Once you've given your burdens to Me, quit trying to take them back. Trust in Me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs, your problems and your trials.

Problems with the kids? Put them on My list.

Problem with finances? Put it on My list.

Problems with your emotional roller coaster? For My sake, put it on My list. I want to help you. All you have to do is ask.

4. LEAVE IT ALONE:

Don't wake up one morning and say, "Well, I'm feeling much stronger now, I think I can handle it from here." Why do you think you are feeling stronger now? It's simple. You gave Me your burdens and I'm taking care of them. I also renew your strength and cover you in my peace. Don't you know that if I give you these problems back, you will be right back where you started? Leave them with Me and forget about them. Just let Me do my job.

5. TALK TO ME:

I want you to forget a lot of things. Forget what was making you crazy. Forget the worry and the fretting because you know I'm in control. But there's one thing I pray you never forget. Please, don't forget to talk to Me - OFTEN! I love YOU! I want to hear your voice. I want you to include Me in on the things going on in your life. I want to hear you talk about your friends and family. Prayer is simply you having a conversation with Me. I want to be your dearest friend.

6. HAVE FAITH:

I see a lot of things from up here that you can't see from where you are. Have faith in Me that I know what I'm doing. Trust Me; you wouldn't want the view from My eyes. I will continue to care for you, watch over you, and meet your needs. You only have to trust Me. Although I have a much bigger task than you, it seems as if you have so much trouble just doing your simple part. How hard can trust be?

7. SHARE:

You were taught to share when you were only two years old. When did you forget? That rule still applies. Share with those who are less fortunate than you. Share your joy with those who need encouragement. Share your laughter with those who haven't heard any in such a long time. Share your tears with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith with those who have none.

8. BE PATIENT:

I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could have so many diverse experiences. You grow from a child to an adult, have children, change jobs many times, learn many trades, travel to so many places, meet thousands of people, and experience so much. How can you be so impatient then when it takes Me a little longer than you expect to handle something on My to-do-list? Trust in My timing, for My timing is perfect. Just because I created the entire universe in only six days, everyone thinks I should always rush, rush, rush.

9. BE KIND:

Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you. They may not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way you do, but I still love you all. Please try to get along, for My sake. I created each of you different in some way. It would be too boring if you were all identical. Please, know I love each of your differences.

10. LOVE YOURSELF:

As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself? You were created by me for one reason only -- to be loved, and to love in return. I am a God of Love. Love Me. Love your neighbors. But also love yourself. It makes My heart ache when I see you so angry with yourself when things go wrong. You are very precious to me. Don't ever forget...
